"You can't call it cheating, she reminds me of you"...a Breakfast Pizza

(Bonus points if you can name that song!)

Monday's dinner was a 'cheat' meal.

I so rarely prepare meals using store-bought goods, but (believe it or no) this recipe came from Vegetarian Times!

Refrigerated crescent rolls for the crust, topped with vegetarian 'sausage' patties (I used Morningstar Farms), thawed hash browns, shredded cheddar cheese, with an egg, milk, crushed red pepper flakes, and sage mixture poured on top.

Bake till crust is golden.

I had to make mine in a rectangular casserole dish, as we don't have round pizza pans.

I'll say upfront that I'm not a big fan of sage (and how ironic: our biggest and healthiest plant in the entire garden this year? Sage. It's probably four feet tall.), but this wasn't half-bad.

The crust was perfect, and I absolutely loved the creamy, biscuit gravy-like top.

Really simple to make...I might keep this recipe around.

And don't forget---Blog Party #2, Tiki Party, is just one week away! Be sure to get your info in by next Thursday, 22 September. You can leave a link in the comments, or email me at thehappysorceress at gmail dot com

- Hay Hay, It's Donna Hay: Cheese Tart, 5 Ways
From the first time I heard about HHDH, I was pretty excited about it. I've loved her magazine from that very first issue, and I've started adding her cookbooks to my already over-burdened shelves. I use them, too! Her simple is best, less is...

- Sage Advice
We've finally gotten 'round to working on our garden; getting the earth tilled, and so on (yes, there were whole hours without rain!). We bought plants (I have a three-year old son, three dogs, and a house to take care of; I don't have time...

- Well, That Didn't Last Long
Forget mice and men. The best laid plans of one busy housemommy went out the window. But the family still needed to eat. I didn't want to spend too much time on dinner, and I wanted to use things already in the kitchen. I ended peeling and very...

- Retro Dinner: 'chicken' Pot Pie Like No One's Mom Used To Make
Another old-time dish, the Chicken Pot Pie. My mom never made pot pies for us. I don't know if that was because she didn't like them, didn't know how to make them, or she didn't think they were healthy enough (this is a woman who weighs...

Recipe from Food & Wine... Italian sausages (Boca sausages for me), cooked with smooshed black beans, adding shredded cheese, tomato, onion and lime juice. Spread over a tortilla, top with cheese. Roll up and place in a baking dish; bake about fifteen...
