Alex turned five Friday, and had his party Sunday.

It was superhero-themed, and we held it at the Children's Museum. There was food and cake, and after presents, the kids were free to explore the museum, which is very hands-on. A two-story doll house big enough for the kids to play in, rocket ships, castles, a water table and more.

The kids were encouraged to dress as superhereoes. Can you guess who Alex was?

Mild-mannered preschooler by day, faux muscle-bound hero by night!

This month, Blog Party's all about the ultimate hand-held food & having a Pizza Party!

Top your pies...full-sized and sliced, or in miniature form...any way you want, pour yourself a drink, and join the party. You have till this Thursday, 20 March, to RSVP...hope to see you there!

- Fallen Heroes
My original plan for Alex's birthday cake was to create candy (wafer chocolate) heroes to place on the tiers. They came out pretty good, I like to think. However, as I discovered around one in the morning...day of party...that they were just too...

- For The Kid In You
A few of Matt's friends came over last weekend for a night of gaming. Yes, gaming. Not poker or video games, but good old-fashioned role playing games. They're a really nice group of guys, but I often tease them that they're still 12 at...

- Outside, Inside
Normally, it's about the food. Food blog, after all. But this time, the food is more a means to an end. So, I don't have much to say about the goat cheese pasta, or that fact we used a novelty, heart-shaped, pasta in the recipe. Instead, I took...

- Anniversary Cake
I saw my wish-list mom, Ina Garten, make this cake to celebrate her & Jeffrey's wedding anniversary. It's nothing at all like our wedding cake, but six years later, change can be good. Six years. In Hollywood, that's a lifetime. Nice &...

- Random, Geeky, Non-food Question
So...Alex wants to dress as Green Arrow for his birthday party, which happens to be twe weeks from today. It's a 'Superhero' party, and the kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite. He's already done Green Lantern. Batman, Superman...
