Outside, Inside
Normally, it's about the food.
Food blog, after all. But this time, the food is more a means to an end.
So, I don't have much to say about the goat cheese pasta, or that fact we used a novelty, heart-shaped, pasta in the recipe.
Instead, I took these pictures to show off the gorgeous baking dish. Made by my sister-in-law, Terri.
That she made. By hand.
Isn't it fabulous?
The girl knows her way around a kiln, doesn't she?
This was a Christmas gift, along with some lovely appetizer-sized plates in the same color/glaze.
Beautiful. More amazing, it's a hobby. Not her job.

For The Kid In You
A few of Matt's friends came over last weekend for a night of gaming. Yes, gaming. Not poker or video games, but good old-fashioned role playing games. They're a really nice group of guys, but I often tease them that they're still 12 at...

Easy Is Good
I'd had Mark Bittman's Quick & Easy Recipes from The New York Times on my Amazon wish list for some time, and finally bought it a couple of weeks ago (it nicely padded out an order to get free shipping...yay Amazon!). During the summer, I got...

Anniversary Cake
I saw my wish-list mom, Ina Garten, make this cake to celebrate her & Jeffrey's wedding anniversary. It's nothing at all like our wedding cake, but six years later, change can be good. Six years. In Hollywood, that's a lifetime. Nice &...
