ARF/5 A Day Tuesday#5: Bottom's Up!

Wow...the stars finally aligned in my favor, or something, because I remembered what day it was, and managed to put together something for Sweetnicks' eat-healthier event, ARF/5 A Day Tuesday.

So...you may be wondering what that glass of pureed...whatever...has to do with this?

Well, there are days when Alex just won't eat whatever Matt and I are having. Tuesday was one of those. I made club sandwiches for us, but Alex wasn't interested.

So for him, I threw a cup of vanilla yogurt, some grape sherbet, a bit of milk, and frozen strawberries into a blender, and hit 'liquify me, baby'. A few tablespoons of sparkling water, and viola! Alex has dinner.

And there you go. Sweetnicks, I made it!

- Picnic In The Park
Last week was Spring Break for our area. Alex had the week off, and while Matt couldn't be spared the full five days, he did manage to play hooky a couple of times. On one of the days, we located our picnic basket from the attic, packed it into the...

- Multiple Choice Made Easier
Matt was in Philly this week, for business, which meant I was a true full-time parent. One way to keep Alex occupied is by getting him to 'help' in the kitchen. A recipe I'd been meaning to make with him, Multiple Choice Cookies, from Joanne...

- In Fact, It Is Easy Being Green.
Saturday, while I was stuck home with an upset stomach, Matt and Alex headed to Earth Fare for the latest Red's Round-Up; a healthy-eating club for kids the store hosts each month. This month, it was all about Greens. Matt took just a few pictures,...

- Those Ragin' Cajun...
potatoes, that is! As we get ready for Fat Tuesday, I prepared a vaguely New Orleans-ish dinner Monday night. Cajun Potatoes with Spicy Lemons and Onions, from this book; barely boiled potato wedges, roasted with red onions, garlic and lemon, tossed...

- A Study In Citrus
Alex attended a party for a healthy-eating club at Earth Fare (how do I love this store? Let me count the ways...) last weekend. The theme? Citrus! And Alex loves citrus fruits. Various citrus fruits were given to the kids to try. To say Alex was in...
