The food meme strikes again...
For those of you who don't know, a meme is an idea that can replicate and evolve. On the internet and in the blogging world they occur all the time. This one originated at Delicious Days but it was passed along to me by Gastronomie.
What is your first memory of baking/cooking on your own?In nursery school we made butter by putting heavy cream in empty baby food jars that were then attached to the handlebars of our tricycles. Ride around like crazy and voila! Butter. I dare say it was the highlight of nursery school...
Who had the most influence on your cooking? My mom. She was a great cook when she did all the family cooking. She impressed everyone by baking bread from scratch back before the introduction of the bread machine.
Do you have an old photo as 'evidence' of an early exposure to the culinary world and would you like to share it?No early cooking. I was too busy ironing...
Mageiricophobia - do you suffer from any cooking phobia, a dish that makes your palms sweat?I have the hardest time with meringue. It just doesn't like me.
What would be your most valued or used kitchen gadgets and/or what was the biggest let down?I like really low tech stuff like heat-resistant silicon spatulas, a wide ceramic peeler and Microplane graters. The biggest let down has been a ceramic knife, too many restrictions on how to use it.
Name some funny or weird food combinations/dishes you really like - and probably no one else!I dunno I once made a pizza topped with asparagus, clams and garlic. But you'd be surprised, it was pretty good.
What are the three eatables or dishes you simply don't want to live without?Pasta, pasta and pasta.
Any question you missed in this meme, that you would have loved to answer? Well then, feel free to add one!Your favorite ice-cream... I live around the corner from the original Swenson's Ice Cream shop and their toasted almond is really good.
You will probably never eat... Tripe. I tried it once. It was icky.
Your own signature dish... Too many really. Probably risotto. I make it tons of ways and it always satisfies.
A common ingredient you just can't bring yourself to stomach... Baked ham. It's just too salty.
Which one culture's food would you most like to sample on its home turf? I've travelled to so many places already! I would like to go to Morocco. I've eaten Italian food all over Italy but would like to spend some more time eating in and around Parma and Ferrara.
The three people I am tagging are: Obsession with Food, Seattle Bon Vivant and Food Migration

Ceramic Peeler:equipment
I am not a geek, but I am always curious about new kitchen gadgets and technologies. So just a few months ago at the Gourmet Products Show when I saw that several companies were selling ceramic knives, I was eager to give them a try. They are made out...

The Cook Next Door
Two memes converged on my little kitchen this week. I'm finally getting around to the second, "The Cook Next Door", which was created by Nicky of delicious days and sent to me by way of Zarah at Food and Thoughts. OK, so let's see... What is your...

Price Reduced; Just $14.99!
Another meme, with my favorite Dane (I'm deliberately not including Viggo...!) Zarah Maria of Food and Thoughts, tagging me this time. What is your first memory of baking/cooking on your own? Yikes...I suppose it was in middle school, when I'd...

Cheesy Pasta
And I keep working through Nigel Slater's Real Food... This time, Pasta with Four Cheeses. Now, we've tried countless baked, multi-cheese pasta dishes in the past. And I usually have the same problems with them: cheeses don't blend, too heavy,...

Meme Again! The Cook Next Door
Alright alright already! The Cook Next Door is hitting the food blogging world like a tornado on a rampage! And I, honored as I was being chosen by Nicky of Delicious Days, the inventor herself, am taking AGES to get my behind into gear. Fear not though,...
